"A blistering opening weekend has set the 3rd Glasgow Film Festival on course for record-breaking success. Box-office figures and admissions are already in excess of anything achieved in the first two years of the event."

The headline on the press release for the third annual Glasgow film festival reads. This years GFF Runs from February the 15th to the 25th with the selling out of tickets for the opening night and days after and near sold out on others. Not only are people making a beeline for Glasgow, the cities residents have also clearly taken the Festival to their hearts. To underline this the festival openers Cashback, Paris Je t’aime  Primo Levi’s Journey and Sketches Of Frank Gehry have all had sell out screenings. Added to this Festival guests over the opening weekend included Scots actor Sean Biggerstaff, Emilia Fox, Michelle Ryan and writer/director Sean Ellis for Cashback, director Sylvain Chomet for Paris Je t’aime, writer/director Col Spector for Someone Else and Oscar-winning producer Jeremy Thomas for Fast Food Nation.

If that was not enough audiences have also responded well to all other aspects of the festival The John Wayne retrospective with Stagecoach very close to selling out at the weekend and a huge response to the Danish focus.” It dose not stop there the festival continues with visits from Canadian directors Matt Bissonnette (Who Loves The Sun) and Paul Fox (Everything’s Gone Green), screenings of the eagerly awaited Shane Meadows film This Is England, Half Nelson starring Best Actor Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling, the Dixie Chicks documentary Shut Up And Sing and a Festival appearance from Scottish actor Martin Compston at the UK premiere of A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints.

The Festival’s closing night presentation, Zhang Yimou’s Oscar-nominated Curse Of The Golden Flower is already sold out and tickets for other events are selling fast.

 GFF 2007 will be held at cinemas across the city.
